Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Why are you running for Mayor of Dupont?

I’ve always wanted to serve my community, but recent experiences — including my own struggles with housing and seeing neighbors face similar challenges — made me realize I couldn’t wait any longer. I’m running as a Write-In Candidate for Mayor of Dupont this November because I believe our borough deserves fresh energy, stronger code enforcement, more transparency, and leadership that truly puts Dupont First.

Who are you?

I’m Keith Kalmanowicz, a third-generation Dupont native. My family has lived here for over 100 years, and we ran Kalmanowicz’s Market & Deli, a small family corner store that thrived until the big chains came in. Today, I’m your neighbor, a chef, a local business owner, and someone committed to giving back to the town that raised me. You’ve probably seen me walking Willow, my Great Pyrenees, around town every day.

What does “Dupont First” mean?

“Dupont First” is our guiding principle. It means decisions are made with our community at the center — not outside corporations, not landlords looking to squeeze tenants, not political machines. It’s about protecting local ownership, helping seniors, supporting working families, and making Dupont a safe, thriving place for the next generation.

How do I vote for you?

I’m not on the printed ballot — I’m running as a Write-In Candidate. On Election Day:

  1. Find the Write-In box for Mayor on your ballot.
  2. Neatly write: Keith Kalmanowicz.
  3. That’s it — every correctly written vote counts.
What are your campaign values?
  • Local ownership over corporate takeover
  • Fair housing + strong code enforcement
  • Help for seniors & respect for working families
  • Fiscal responsibility & transparent government
  • Community input in major decisions
  • Openness to future opportunities — from cannabis tax revenue to exploring innovative funds that strengthen our borough
Are you taking donations?

Yes — this is a grassroots campaign. Every dollar goes directly to essentials like yard signs, flyers, t-shirts, and outreach tools. Contributions are not tax-deductible, but they make a big difference in helping us reach every voter.

Can I support the campaign without donating?

Absolutely. This campaign is about participation, not just money. You can:

  • Put up a yard sign
  • Share our posts online
  • Tell your neighbors how to Write In Keith Kalmanowicz this November
  • Volunteer your time for door-knocking, phone calls, or events
Where can I get a yard sign, hat, or t-shirt?

We’ve set up a small online shop at Keith4Dupont.com/shop where you can pre-order hats, shirts, and signs. Every purchase supports the campaign and spreads the word: Write In Keith Kalmanowicz for Mayor.

What’s your relationship with the current mayor?

Elaine is a long-time family friend, and I respect the work she has done for Dupont. This decision to run wasn’t easy — but I believe it’s time for new leadership and fresh ideas to carry our borough forward.
